For the reviews of the dog training programs, I have purchased them and can give you some additional insight as to what to expect  if you make a purchase.  It can be hard to make a decision on a training program because you really just don't know what you will get until after you buy it.  This site can help you decide, since I have already checked them all out.  I am not a dog trainer myself, so I am in a position like you - I need to read to learn how to do it.  I'll tell you about what I have read and learned.

Below are two unique programs.  One is an all "audio" program and the other is a "presentation" type program (like a PowerPoint slide show presentation).  They are each quite good for this type of format.  You might prefer getting your training information using this method over reading books.  Some people dread the idea of reading any training manual. 

Another great use for this type of program is that each is perfect for having your child or adolescent do the dog training.  Maybe you got the dog as a gift for them and you want them to be responsible for it.  Having them handle the dog training will make them feel responsible and improve the bond between the child and dog.  You will probably never get them to read a training manual (uugh!), but they may very well listen to the Dean Rankin audio program, and will probably be even more keen on the Dove Cresswell audio/video presentation.  If any of these are your situation, this is the answer for you.

This is another unique program that is exclusively video/audio files that you watch off the web.  The program runs like a PowerPoint slide show and it sticks to the basics of dog training. She has a sample dog training session on her website for you to check out, so you know what you will be getting.  Dove is a "Hollywood set" dog trainer who has done the animal training for many TV shows and movies.  So her credentials are top notch.  The video/audio presentation works well.  The total content is less than what the books offer, but sufficient for basic dog training.  Again, some people love this format.  It's like watching TV and learning at the same time.  (Gee, must be PBS)  The information may not be as comprehensive as the three lead selling programs but this format might be right for you.  You do have to be at your computer to watch the material.

The program is divided into seven sections.  There are no "extras."

This is a unique program in that it is exclusively audio file playbacks listened to over your computer.  It is a 13 part audio program that is a total of 1 hour and 45 minutes long.  This style of presentation may be just up your alley.  No reading or flipping through pages, just select one of the 13 segments and click on it.  Some people just love sitting back listening to the instructions.  However, you do have to be at your computer to listen to the sessions. 

The two "extras" included are e-books, not audio files.
